Hi, not sure whether I offered that before. I have a large format inkjet printer (it does up to "Super A0", that's 96cm wide and 130cm long or so)[*] which I regularly use to print OSM maps when we have a booth somewhere. Nothing beats a large print of the local area map, people usually stop and stare and find bugs and that's an ideal conversation starter ;-)
I'll happily print posters for anyone who has use for them. You can either supply me with a large PNG file (anything above 40 mega pixel gives good results) or just send me an OSM permalink of the approximate area you want (and whether Mapnik or Osmarender) and I'll grab a suitable zoomlevel from the server and print that. My cost for printing a Super A0 sheet is about EUR 1, and shipping to anywhere in Europe [that includes the UK for those in doubt] is EUR 4.50 (can take up to two sheets A0 or more if smaller; overseas is EUR 8.00). I'll sponsor the money if you promise to use the posters for OSM recruitment ;-) The drawback is that I have to fold the sheets for shipping; sending them rolled up would cost a fortune. [**] Bye Frederik [*] The printer uses roll paper so it should be able to print any length but there's a bug in the gimp-print driver that makes the printer cut the paper at the Super A0 boundary. I haven't yet found the time to investigate and fix taht ;) [**] I'll meet a few OSMers in London next week-end so I could actually bring a bunch of prints with me and hand them out, but then again if you're a Londoner you probably have cheap printing options around every corner! -- Frederik Ramm ## eMail [EMAIL PROTECTED] ## N49°00'09" E008°23'33" _______________________________________________ talk mailing list [email protected] http://lists.openstreetmap.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/talk
