Or buy a simple GPS data logger with BlueTooth connection. For collecting of GPS traces, you don't need to turn your PDA/PC on, for navigation you have to do. You can put it to the best signal place, keeping your PDA/PC/phone in your bag or pocket. They: - are cheap (<$150) - have long battery life (up to 40 hours of continuous tracking) - have POI button - are not waterproof - can log typically ~100000 points Optional features of some devices: - audio notes for POI - motion sensor to save battery when inactive - navigation and logging at once (e. g. Qstarz BT-Q1000 can not, BT-Q1000P can). - high frequency logging (e. g. 5Hz) - define NMEA words to log (position, altitude, heading, expected accuracy, satellite positions). I have Qstarz BT-Q1000P, but you can find more similar devices. ________________________________________________________________________ Stanislav Brabec http://www.penguin.cz/~utx _______________________________________________ talk mailing list [email protected] http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk
