Production of solar panels aren't at present cheap nor particularly efficient,
especially those made for mass consumption, they also use rare earth materials
some of which will be depleted before we get anywhere near depleting oil.
Further more there has been some spectacular industrial disasters involving
non-nuclear and all the polution companies get away with in developing nations
is a joke.
Things like Boron reactors would be safe, simply because they aren't naturally
unstable, they have to be made unstable at the time of the reaction.
