+1 Telephone calls are too intrusive. Someone might have to pick up their child from school at the time you have scheduled the call; someone might have a hard time following people in a foreign language over a distorted voice link (mind you, the Cloudmade-sponsored telcos are vastly better than any intercontinental VOIP stuff I've been participating in, but still). I can see a role for Telcos where decisions need to be made quickly but there's no reason not to give ample time to everybody in the Local Chapters issue.
