There is a difference regarding downstream users. If I take copyrighted material and put it up on a web site saying "download and use freely", then * I am in breach of copyright * anyone who downloads data from my site is, too whereas if the data is not copyrighted, but given to me under a contract that stipulates that I may not put it up on a web site and say "download and use freely" then * I am in breach of contract * anyone who downloads data from my site is not in breach of anything Bye Frederik -- Frederik Ramm ## eMail [email protected] ## N49°00'09" E008°23'33" _______________________________________________ talk mailing list [email protected] http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk
