Anyway, I am sure that in the end a good enough solution will be found for everyone. OpenJDK is potentially a way. Porting the plugin to different editor like Merkaator or Potlatch2 might be a solution. Does Merkaator has a plugin mechanism which would allow us to add the tool? Now on the debate itself, I am a programmer, so I can understand the point of upgrading.
