I tried Navit a few weeks ago, and I keep using it. Offline vector maps, no internet access needed, the search engine isn't bad, ...Thanks to the xml file navit.xml, we can customize the app (ui, vehicle with no toll, stylesheets for maps, ...). It's free and opensource. However, the ui is not very convenient at the beginning.
