The wiki's decreasing level of edit energy, combined with it's increasing reach is a problem. Wiki text now appears directly in dozens of automated editing and QA tools.
With JOSM style presets, there's a filter between activity on the wiki and what gets wider coverage. With iD style automatic import, the wiki becomes the documentation.
