David,
I found a compatible device list for File Associate, and it only listed the
following Nokia phones: Nokia: 9210, 9290, 9300, 9500
This is the type of utility I would like to find for my N82. I want text
files to open in QuickWord when selected in the phone's File Manager.

I found a symbian application called File Associate which may have done
the
trick but I could not get it to install on my N86. For some reason the
Talks
volume reduced so much during the reading of the error message I could not
tell what the problem was. So I do not know if it would have worked with
Talks if I had managed an install.
I am not yet familiar enough with all the flavours of the Symbian OS to
tell definitively what will work on my phone.

David Griffith

I was never able to figure out how to get Light Notepad or PED to be the
application that would start up when you opened a text file through File
Manager. Hopefully someone smarter and more persistent than me can figure
it
out and share it with the rest of us.

The Light Notepad application recommended to me on this list is the
best
application I have come across for reading text files so far, with
all of
its features accessible through Talks as far as I can see.
Actually it may have been you who recommended it!
If I re-open a book talks starts reading from where I left off and the
program has an excellent easy bookmark feature.
The only downside is that I cannot find anyway for Light Notepad to
become
the default text editor . That is, the application which by default
opens
text files from email attachments or file manager. I would appreciate
advice
on this.

Hi
Does Daisy-2-go read text files? Or rather books in text format? I
haven't been able to figure out how to have it identify them if it
does. In the manual it seems to indicate it'll read text books, but
it may just be referring to daisy books showing text and no audio
rather than reading books in text format.
