This doesn't sound like the full caller ID thing of Talks beings the phone continues ringing. If it was that function the phone would not continue to ring after it was spoken. So nothing to do with the automation tab of Talks. Perhaps it is just reading the screen when it changes. Have you tried changing the theme to see if that makes any difference?
