do you mean on home screen? if so, yes you can find the contacts by pressing
a few letters. It is contacts search and very useful.

Well I appreciate this is like trying to teach your grandmother to suck
eggs but I have discovered with my E6 that I can start putting in letters
to someone's name and quickly getting to their telephone number. This I
can start doing on the fly.
