No Maurice, this is a drawback on the touch screen phones for us. There is
an icon OK but if I have 2 messages it will say 2 and if I have 1 it will
say Icon 1. Unlike you, when I tap the icon I go directly to the message.
However the same icon acts for missed calls and messages and it could be
that I have a missed call and a message. What I find irritating then is
that when I press or tap the icon I am thrown on to a screen which asks if I
want to remove all and sorry I forget the word used, but at least when I say
yes I know that there has obviously been a missed call as well as a message
so I then go and read my message. I remember this being explained to me on
the list when I got my E6 after you did so 'slap on the wrist' there Maurice
*smile*.

Subject: [Talks] Text Message allerts ETC.
Hi All,
Basically this is another E6 question but the issue might occur on other
phones as well.
On my N86 if I am away from the phone and someone sends me a text message
or I miss a call, when I press the "Mute" off button the phone will
say
either "1 Missed Call" or "2 new messages".
Now on my E6 I don't get this prompt so whenever I want to check for
messages ETC I use one of two ways.
1. I go to the Menu, Messaging and In-box and there the
phone will announce whether there are indeed any messages or whether it is
empty.
2. I run my finger up the screen above key 1 and if
there
is a message it says "Icon". When I press on this the messaging menu item
comes up as per normal.
So here's my question,
Is there a way of altering the phone so that when unmuted it will go
immediately to the messaging menu or in-box.
I hope I've made myself clear.
Thanks.
Maurice Press.
