No Maurice, this is a drawback on the touch screen phones for us. There is an icon OK but if I have 2 messages it will say 2 and if I have 1 it will say Icon 1. Unlike you, when I tap the icon I go directly to the message. However the same icon acts for missed calls and messages and it could be that I have a missed call and a message. What I find irritating then is that when I press or tap the icon I am thrown on to a screen which asks if I want to remove all and sorry I forget the word used, but at least when I say yes I know that there has obviously been a missed call as well as a message so I then go and read my message.
