September workshops with CECILIA GONZALEZ & JEAN SEBASTIEN RAMPAZZI,
21-23 October (Sat, Sun & Mon), with one of our most popular teachers --
and one of the few to return to Boston for the third time.

And for the first time, we are featuring Tango DJ Michel Auzat from
Montreal for our Saturday night Milonga (which will of course also
feature an exhibition by Cecilia and Jean Sebastien).

DETAILS ON CECILIA & JEAN SEBASTIEN WORKSHOPS (Oct 21-23, 2000)

Cecilia Gonzalez is considered one of the top women Tango teachers in
Buenos Aires today. She has studied Tango with maestro Domingo Pugliese,
and has taught and performed worldwide both by herself and with former
partners Osvaldo Zotto, Pablo Veron, Fabian Salas, Miguel Angel Zotto,
and Mariano "Chicho" Frumboli. Cecilia has been invited to numerous
Tango Congresses worldwide (including the prestigious CITA-1999 and
CITA-2000), and tours extensively to teach in Europe and North America.
These are in addition, of course, to her classes in Argentina, various
Tango performances, and even two appearance dancing Tango in the movie
Evita!

Jean Sebastien Rampazzi has been collaborating and partnering with
Cecilia Gonzalez since 1999 and they toured Europe together in May-June
2000. He has studied tango with Gustavo Naveira, Pablo Veron, Fabian
Salas and Mariano "Chicho" Frumboli. Regularly invited to dance in
places like the Berlin Philharmonic Theatre, he is part of the new
generation of tango dancers.

Saturday, 21 October 2000 (Beginners through Advanced)

   11:45 - Noon: Registration & warm-up
   Noon - 2:00 pm: T1: FUNDAMENTALS OF TANGO FOR IMPROVISATION. Leading
& following, developing natural & "organic" body movements. Essential
for beginners, recommended for all.
   2:15 - 3:45 pm: T2: TANGO TURNS (GIROS). Basics of Tango turns and
their use in moving around the floor.
   4:15 - 5:45 pm: T3: RHYTHMS & SYSTEMS. Understand "parallel" and
"crossed" systems, and the relationship and use of rhythm when changing
between systems.
   8:30 pm - 12:30 am: LA MILONGA featuring showcase by Cecilia and Jean
Sebastien, and music by DJ Michel Auzat from Montreal. Hors d'oeuvres
and refreshments served.

Sunday, 22 October 2000 (Intermediate through Advanced)

  12:45 am - noon: Registration and warm-up
   1:00 - 3:00 pm: T4: STRUCTURE. Use of structure provided by giros to
understand & vary the possible combinations.
   3:15 - 4:45 pm: T5: CHANGE OF DIRECTION. Alternative way of changing
direction of turns.
   5:15 - 6:45 pm: T6: CONTRA-BOLEOS. Technique for boleos where the man
moves in opposite direction of the woman.

Monday, 23 October 2000 (For Advanced dancers)

   7:15 -  7:30 pm: Registration and warm-up
   7:30 -  9:00 pm: A1: ADVANCED TANGO I
   9:30 - 11:00 pm: A2: ADVANCED TANGO II
(Combining and varying material of previous workshops with addition of
new material and varying techniques and dynamics. You may wish to take
this with a partner, but it is not required.)

Workshops are 1.5 or 2 hours each, and cost as little as $9/hour of
instruction (members in advance). Students get a 30% additional discount
on all prices below (except membership). Detailed pricing information

supplementary small (8-10 students) classes between Oct 17-26 that are
designed to coordinate with these weekend workshops (especially the ones

OTHER INFORMATION

The VFW Mt. Auburn Post is air-conditioned and spacious. Classes are not
expected to sell out. No partner is necessary--there will be partner
changes. Wear leather-soled shoes comfortable for dancing. Light snacks
will be provided during workshop breaks. Dress is casual for the
workshops. However, "La Milonga" is a more formal dance and appropriate
attire is requested. You are strongly encouraged to take workshops
progressively to get the most out of the weekend.
