Dear Tangueras: I've been meaning to forward to the Tango-L list the following note I wrote to Robin Tara of Tara Tango Shoes in October. I am reminded to do so now by nature of the fact that I went to a holiday party a few days ago where some of the party-goers were *still* talking about the shoes I refer to below!
Please be assured that I have no stake in her company whatsoever and will not profit by submitting this note - except for perhaps having the pleasure of seeing more women dancing in Tara Shoes! Tango on, Heather -----Original Message----- From: Heather Fleming [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, October 03, 2000 9:36 PM To: Robin Tara Subject: Dear Robin: I thought a little feedback on my fabulous red Malena dance shoes was in order. I've been training for my first marathon all summer long, so any shoe that feels good on a Saturday evening after a long training run that morning is a good shoe, in my book. Those are few and far between: Birkenstocks, and, well, Birkenstocks. When I wore my new Tara shoes for the first time ten days ago, not only did they feel good, but I felt that my dancing was improved. So I thought, wow, this is a great pair of shoes. And a lot sexier than Birkenstocks... So I decided to put them to the real test. Two days ago, on October 1, I ran the marathon (in Portland, Oregon) I'd been training for: 26.2 miles, five solid hours of running (and it rained for the first two hours, ugh). That night, my team had a big party, complete with dancing (unfortunately, no tango) - guess who wore her 3 & 1/2 inch Tara shoes?? Every other woman there was wearing flats, but I burned up the dance floor in the Red Shoes! They were so comfortable, I could have danced until dawn, if only the rest of my marathon-weary bod could have held up!
