My thanks to those who replied. I did get a reminder that not everyone has a world atlas handy, so here's an update on WHERE Burghausen is:
It's located in Southeastern Germany, very close to the German-Austrian border. The nearest cities are Landshut, Passau, Regensburg and (in Austria) Salzburg. All these cities appear to have a tango community of sorts, but each is also coincidentally about an hour's travel away, not including the usual hassles of getting to/from the train stations. The nearest major tango community is apparently Munich, but its distance (110km to the west) means it's definitely a weekend visit only. The nearer cities are a possibility on weekdays if there are people willing to carpool, since I won't have a car and I doubt the bus and train services run at 2am, which I am given to understand is the usual time for milongas in Germany to end. I have visited Joerg Mueller and Ernesto's sites about tango in Munich and Salzburg respectively. If anyone knows of a better resource or people to contact directly via email I would be grateful. I am currently studying German, so feel free to communicate in German - it will be a good test of my learning! Many thanks, and apologies for the long post, Benjamin Benjamin Koh wrote: > > Does anyone know anything about tango in Burghausen, Germany? I may be > there from July-September this year.
