CLASSES LAST 4-WEEKS and cost just $30/person with
pre-registration, or $35 without. Pre-registration closes at midnight
the night before the session begins. All fees are collected at the first
class of session and may be paid by cash or check payable to The
Viscount Dance Studios, sorry we do not accept credit cards at this time.
No Partner is necessary for any of our classes.

PRE-REGISTRATION: In order to better organize
our classes we ask that you please pre-register. By
pre-registering for a session you will receive a $5 discount
and assure yourself a place in the class. (Please read
class size info below) Pre-registration closes at
midnight the night before the session begins and fees
are collected the first day of class.

If you are pre-registering via phone or e-mail and have not
taken classes at The Viscount Dance Studios before please
leave us your name, address, phone# , Email and the class(es)
you wish to sign up for.

CLASS SIZES: : To insure the best possible instruction for our
students we have a 30 student maximum in all classes. If you
wish to register for a class that has reached it's capacity you will
have the option to be placed on the waiting list and we will notify
you if we receive any cancellations. A minimum of 8 students is
also required and it may be necessary to cancel a class should an
insufficient number of students sign up.

DANCE PASSPORT: As a student of the Viscount Dance Studios
you will be given a "Dance Passport" valid for the duration of your session
which entitles you to a $2 discount on admission into The Viscount Ballroom
(located upstairs) the card will be issued at the first class and must be
shown
each time when entering the ballroom with valid ID. This card is good for any
night at the ballroom until expiration. (A DANCE PASSPORT WILL NOT BE
ISSUED TO DROP-IN STUDENTS)

CLASS DESCRIPTION:

BEGINNING RHYTHM TAP: Explore the basic tap patterns & rhythms in
an energetic and non-threatening class with an emphasis on enjoying the art.
Tap is great for circulation, memory & balance. We will concentrate on basic
tap terminology, steps and rhythms. "If you always wanted to take tap as a
child, here's your chance."

This team of instructors has come together to bring you more variety, fresh
ideas and
perspectives and an increased opportunity for learning "This Thing Called
Swing" at
The Viscount Dance Studios. Instructors will regularly rotate classes
giving students
the opportunity to learn different concepts and perspectives at all levels
of instruction.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

ABOUT LINDY HOP: The original 8-count Swing dance, Savoy style
Lindy Hop originated at the Savoy Ballroom in Harlem in the 1920's
and increased in popularity during the 1930's and 1940's. Lindy Hop
has recently experienced a revival helping to bring partner dancing
back into style again.

LINDY HOP I: Lindy Hop is the original swing dance and this class will
get you into the Lindy rhythm. With a strong emphasis in leading
& following, you will get up to speed fast. We will have you
dancing by the end of the first class.

LINDY HOP 2: Picking up where you left off with Lindy Hop 1
you will refine the material you are now starting to feel comfortable
with while learning new and exciting moves!

LINDY HOP 3: With new moves every week this class focuses on
lead and follow concepts, styling and technique. With an ever changing
syllabus this class is designed to constantly challenge and expand your
Lindy Hop dancing and may be repeated over and over again.

BALBOA: (Beginning) Currently extremely popular among Portland
swing dancers, this very fast 8-count dance originated in Southern
California at the Balboa Park Club an enormous wood-frame building,
home of the Naval Officer's Club in San Diego during WWII. The perfect
solution to those really fast songs, Balboa features intricate footwork,
breakaways and great styling techniques.

MARGARET will teach the following 4-week Hip Hop dance session

CLASS DESCRIPTION:

HIP HOP: This is a funky, 60-minute class of sweat, soul and street.
Wear whatever is comfortable and makes you feel good.
Anybody can take this class, have fun, and get a fantastic workout,
even if you've never tried it before! Athletic shoes are highly recommended.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

SALSA: Erick teaches 3 different sessions at the beginning level
and 3 at the intermediate level. Each session builds on the previous
session. After completing all 3 Beginning sessions you will be ready
for his Intermediate series. The Intermediate Level 3 session is designed
to be repeated and may be taken again and again as new challenging
material will be constantly offered.

BEGINNING CHA-CHA-CHA: Cha Cha although having been around
for many years is experiencing somewhat of a re-birth and fast
becoming one of the most popular crazes in the Latin dance
scene. This is a beginning level class and will take you through
the basics focusing on lead/follow, footwork, basic steps and techniques.

INTERMEDIATE CHA-CHA: This intermediate level class for the
experienced dancer with previous Cha Cha experience and will
move at a fast pace.

RUMBA FOR ALL LEVELS: This class is designed for students of all
levels to add a little extra "Sabor" to your dancing. This will be a fun
way to expand on your current Salsa & Latin dance styling. Whereas
this class is designed for all levels, it is suggested that you have some
Salsa experience.

EAST COAST SWING & TANGO CLASSES (STUDIO A)

Rachel is on vacation for the month of May

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

ARGENTINE TANGO: For both the beginning and Intermediate
level dancer. Experience the passion, the magic & the mystery
of Argentine Tango first hand. Learn to feel & dance the authentic
Argentine Tango in a fun and easy way. Lead & Follow techniques
will closely examined. This is also an excellent opportunity for the
more experienced dancer to refine the basics.

EAST COAST SWING: For the beginning/intermediate level dancer,
this class will focus on single-time and triple-time variations to add
flair to your dancing. Some previous East Coast Swing experience
is recommended but not required.
