MA for the premiere of "Butterfly" -- a new dance performance which
combines elements of Argentine Tango, Tai Chi, and modern dance. Tickets

Boston, MA. (Oct. 17, 2001) Martial artist and modern dance choreographer
Leda Elliott proudly presents her exciting new production Butterfly, which
combines tai chi, Argentine tango and modern dance. The performance will
take place Saturday, November 10th at 8pm at the Dance Complex, 536 Mass.
Ave in Cambridge.
The visually stunning Butterfly will appeal to people interested in martial
arts, argentine tango, dance, and the vibrant local performing arts
community in Boston. Many people are familiar with the health benefits of
tai chi, the passion of tango and the expressiveness of modern dance. But
to local tai chi instructor and dance choreographer Leda Elliott, the
combination of these three different disciplines creates something
magical. "Though seemingly divergent, these movement forms intersect at
unexpected points, echoing one another in their passions, struggles and
conquests. The blend of diverse arts and cultures produces a lush sensory
experience for the audience."
The program is comprised of 6 individual pieces, ranging from the ethereal
Eternal Circle in which fairies inhabit and participate in the circular
balance of life, to the powerful Warrior's Shadow, where the ultimate enemy
of the warrior is the self. A troupe of nine performers is led by Ms.
Elliott, who also serves as artistic director and choreographer. Tango
choreography and instruction was provided by Sharna Fabiano.
