Recently, a woman wrote me that she was coming to Buenos Aires for the first time and wanted to dance with milongueros. I told her that the odds of this happening are slim for several reasons. First, there are few people who know the milongueros. So many are under the assumption that any man over a certain age is a milonguero. Second, there are so few of them and so many milongas. You have to know where they go to dance. Third, they only dance with women they know who dance well, not every tourist who looks their way. They want to dance well or not at all.
This brings me to the following proposal. I have had the distinct pleasure of knowing Ernesto Delgado for the past two years. He goes to the milongas several times a week. Ernesto is 66 years old and learned to dance in the milongas during the 1950s. He has gone to the milongas ever since then. Business is slow for him right now due to the economic crisis in Argentina. So I am trying to help by offering to arrange tandas or an evening of tango with this extraordinary milonguero. There isn't a woman who has danced with him who wouldn't jump at the chance of having another tanda with Ernesto Delgado. I know that Helen, Kristin, Marilyn and Nancy will agree with me. They are foreigners who have had the experience of dancing with Ernesto. So ladies, if you are interested in dancing with a real milonguero, write me and I'll make the arrangements.
