Wine and Cattle Country of Arizona! We would like to invite everyone to the first ever New Year's Eve Tango Ball in Elgin, AZ. The Elgin Community Club is the venue for this unique southwestern event. Elgin is located 45 miles SW of Tucson in southeastern Santa Cruz County.
This part of Arizona is a grassland at 5000 ft, surrounded by mountain ranges - truly a unique and beautiful area. The Elgin Club was built in the 20's as a social club for the ranchers of the area and serves the entire community today. The wood floor is lovely, there is a huge stone fireplace at one end and a large separate kitchen and dining area. Festivities start with a potluck dinner at 7:00 pm, the ball begins at 9:00 pm. The potluck is free and we hope everyone will stay for the ball which costs $5.00. ($3.00 for Elgin Club members). The music will be mostly recorded - the Clutch and Sway Tango Band (bandoneon and keyboard) of Port Townsend, WA, will play a couple of sets. Before and after the ball there is ample to do in the area including visiting the three local wineries, shopping in Sonoita and Patagonia, or hiking, biking or 4 wheeling any one of a myriad of trails in the Coronado National Forest.
