Built as a pavilion for the 1905 World's Fair, St. Johns Pub is a warm,
storied place. This quirky, crowned building has been through nine decades
of renovations, patch jobs and redecorations, which have all but transformed
its original architectural grandeur into eccentric charm. Inside, the
two-story pub is filled with fascinating décor, highlighted by an eclectic
collection of chandeliers and tapestries. The soaring Green Dome atop St.
Johns makes it one of Portland's finest acoustic venues, and a great spot
for dancing Argentine tango!
This milonga occurs during Brooke Burdett's visit to Portland. (Her
workshops are Saturday and Sunday [1/19-20] at Clay's Dance Studio.)
The McMenamins St. Johns Pub & Restaurant will be open and serving during
the milonga. The location is near the North end of St. Johns Bridge in North
Portland. Street parking only; be prepared to walk a few blocks. For more
