Hi Tangueros:
The exciting class schedule for Tango Fireworks 2002 has just been posted on
our website, www.apurotango.com. Click on the Tango Fireworks page and
scroll to the bottom. There is still time to register for Southern
California's only week-long tango festival, held June 28-July 6 at the
beautiful Crowne Plaza Redondo Beach Hotel. This is a star-studded event
with 13 of the finest tango maestros in the world: from Buenos Aires, Milena
Plebs and Ezequiel Farfaro, Carlos Copello and Alicia Monti, Julio Balmaceda
and Corina De La Rosa, Nestor and Patricia Ray, Diego DiFalco and Carolina
Zokalski, Aurora Lubiz and Jorge Firpo and one of the founders of the
European tango scene, Brigitta Winkler of Berlin. PLUS we have two nights
with the foremost tango orchestra in the world today, the original COLOR
TANGO, under the direction of Roberto Alvarez. This great orchestra
meticulously recreates the sound of the immortal Osvaldo Pugliese Orchestra.
Just close your eyes and you'll feel you're in the great tango salons of the
1940s! We also have three of North America's BEST tango deejays--Robert Hauk
of Portland, Dan Boccia of Anchorage and Robin Thomas of New York. So come
on out to a glorious week of tango: 110 classes, 8 milongas, Closing Night
Dinner/Maestros' Show & Grande Tango Ball--all at a beautiful beach venue
under the fabulous California sunshine! Full event: $689 per person; July
4-5-6 weekend: $465 per person. It's the best tango week bargain in North
America. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover Card.
Here are some highlights of the class schedule:

ADVANCED TRACK: Especially designed for truly advanced dancers, particularly
teachers and other professionals and semi-professionals who wish to focus on
performance skills. Milena Plebs (choreographer/star of Tango X 2 and Una
Noche de Tango) and Ezequiel Farfaro will teach a three-part "Elements of
Choreography" course. Carlos Copello and Alicia Monti, two of the world's
most compelling tango performers and stars of the original "Forever Tango"
as well as "Tango Argentino, "Tango X 2" and "Una Noches De Tango," will
teach a special class on "Creating a Persona for the Stage." ALSO advanced
participants will have an opportunity to have their own choreography
critiqued by Milena & Ezequiel, Carlos & Alicia, Diego & Carolina and Aurora
& Jorge.
INTERMEDIATES: There will be two intermediate tracks, Intermediate and
Advanced Intermediate. The Advanced Intermediate track is designed for very
strong, experienced dancers who want challenging material but do not want to
work on choreography.
BEGINNER'S TRACK: Especially designed in a sequential fashion to help
beginners jump-start their tango.
SPECIAL CLASSES: Megan Reisel, Director of Movement Therapy at Canyon Ranch
Health Spa will teach a daily warm-up/stretching/body alignment class.
Johanna Siegmann will teach two of her "Tao of Tango" classes focusing on
partner awareness and the balancing of male and female energy in tango and
life. Nestor and Patricia Ray will give two special lecture/demonstrations
on "The Evolution of Tango Styles."
