Yvonne Meissner, world-class tango dancer and teacher from Amsterdam, will
be teaching on Salt Spring Island from June 15 - June 20. Our tango
community, "Por el amor del tango" is proud and excited to welcome her to
our beautiful island, and we invite you to join us in what promises to be
an outstanding dance and social experience.

Yvonne's teaching philosophy centres around gentle, tender body
communication between two dance partners. Drawing form intensive studies of
modern dance body techniques, Yvonne emphasizes where in the body a
movement starts and how it is transmitted and communicated to the partner.
Her teaching and dancing culminates in experiencing the pleasures of
dancing as one heart and four legs.

Yvonne has been teaching tango for the last ten years in many European
countries, in the most renowned clubs in Buenos Aires, and in the U.S. Her
training comprises teachers like Vanina, Gustavo Naveira, Pepito
Avallenada, Susana Miller, Pocho Pizzaro, Tete and Maria.

On Salt Spring Island she will be teaching a variety of classes suitable to
all levels. There will also be ample opportunity for private lessons.
Price is $20 Canadian per group lesson (a fantastic deal at about $13. US)
with discounts for more than 2 lessons.

This is a unique event for any tanguero to study Yvonne's elegant and fluid
style in combination with summer living on one of the most beautiful
islands in the Northern Pacific Ocean. Our friendly tango community will
enhance the experience with several extra-curricular potlucks and
living-room dances.

Salt Spring Island is about 25 by 10 miles in size with a permanent
population of about 10,000. Geography includes farmland, villages and
mountains. There is a large community of artists, artisans, and alternative
thinkers. Per capita we have one of the largest tango communities in the
world. Tangueros travel regularly from Vancouver and Victoria to attend our
milongas.

Contact Beatrix or Karen for lesson schedule and more information on
instruction and dancing. Kataline and Nirmal will assist you with travel
and accommodation. Salt Spring is accessible from Seattle by car and ferry,
ferry and bus, or by plane. You may need to have a conversation with one of
us to sort out your options.

We look forward to meeting you here,

Beatrix
