This Saturday night July 26 at Bailemos Tango, Tito Castro, one of the best bandoneon players in the tango world and beloved by many in NYC, will be playing along with Pancho Navarro, (an excellent guitarist who has played with him for a long time) at Danel and Maria's milonga at the Pierre Dulaine Dance Club. Sadly Tito was robbed of his own very beautiful bandoneon while on a visit to Peru earlier this year. Not only a traumatic experience for him (robbed at gunpoint!) but a great loss of a rare and valuable instrument. He has been getting by with a borrowed one but it is not of the caliber of his own original one. The tango community here has been energetic in trying to help him buy a new one worthy of the formidable skills of this great musician, one of the best bandoneon players in the world for dancing. (Bandoneons of quality like the Doble A can cost as much as $8000. if you can find one). He could probably play solo and keep a full house dancing, so rhythmic and steady is his musical ability. He is versed in many of the great classic tangos, having played in his youth for the Osmar Maderna orchestra in Buenos Aires. People here are very fond of him and would love to see him with an instrument he truly deserves.
Come to hear this popular musician and join us in helping him replace his current instrument with one that is truly worthy of his consummate ability. The entry is $15. and as usual includes all refreshments all night and we ask for contributions in any amount to help him buy another quality bandoneon. A splendid night for a splendid musician. We will also have great recorded classic tangos from the golden age and dancing until 3:00 AM. Come join us.
