iconoclastic cutting edge tango, which goes where no tango went before, while
grounded in truly Argentine Tango structures and traditions.

Norberto "El Pulpo" Esbrez & Luiza Paes
NORBERTO ESBREZ has fifteen years of professional experience as a dancer, tango
teacher and choreographer of the Argentine tango. First steeped in the
traditional training of Dinzel, he then carefully researched and developed a
singularly innovative and unusual new technique and style. He and his partner
improvise in continuous, round, smooth sequences of intertwining ganchos
(hooks), sacadas (displacements) and enganches (entanglements,) highly original
and never before seen on the floors of Buenos Aires milongas. These new
movements earned him the nickname there of "El Pulpo" (The Octopus). In 1999
Norberto began to travel with the gifted dancer and musician LUIZA PAES as his
partner, and together they explore the possibilities of the laughing, crying
tango universe. Through more than a decade of teaching tango and giving
exhibitions in the United States, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, and
Argentina, El Pulpo has developed his clear, relaxed, humorous style of
instruction which helps his students achieve greater and greater precision and
creativity.

2:00pm to 3:30 Workshop I - Argentine Tango Fundamentals. TECHNIQUE CLASS FOR
ALL LEVELS: shifting weight, walking, posture, balance, pivots, ochos,
resolutions and maybe a few traspies, turns, molinetes and/or embellishments.
This class highly recommended prior to Pulpo and Luiza's other classes.
4:00pm to 5:30 Workshop II - Int. GANCHOS(hooks) & ENGANCHES(wraps.) EL PULPO's
techniques for men & women
6:00pm to 7:30 Workshop III - Int-Adv DANCING INTO PARTNER SPACE
(displacements, hooks, wraps and more)
Sunday January 11th
2:00pm to 3:30 Workshop IV - Beg-Int navigation tools
4:00pm to 5:30 Workshop V - Int-Adv barridas (sweeps) and sacadas
(displacements)
6:00pm to 7:30 Workshop VI - Advanced turning ganchos with displacement.
