FIRST TIME EVER, OCTOBER 13-19 Don t miss the opportunity to study with this great master teacher!!! Cacho Dante is one of Buenos Aires true milongueros. He has been dancing tango for over 44 years. During the last decade, Cacho s renown as a master teacher or close embrace, or milonguero style of tango has spread from Buenos Aires to Europe and the U.S. Cacho has developed a precise teaching method, making him an exceptional teacher. Cacho focuses on step quality, centering and balance, posture and creative variations on the most useful social dance floor choreography. He is a master of subtle body language. In tribute to his reputation as a dancer, Cacho appeared in the film The Tango Lesson and will be featured in the documentary film Chasing the Ghost currently being produced. CACHO DANTE OCT. 15-17 WORKSHOPS Friday, October 15, 2004, 6:45-7:00 pm: Registration and warm-up 7-8:45 pm : FUNDAMENTALS: (all levels) The basics of tango body language and movement, including posture, centering or axis, step quality-placement of feet, weighing of steps, and embrace as applied to rhythmic walking and changes of direction. Saturday, October 16, 2004, 1-2:45pm DANCING IN PLACE: (Advanced Beginners, intermediates and up) How to shrink and tighten steps and turns for men and women when the dictates of the social dance require dancing in place. 3-4:45pm OCHOS IN ALL DIRECTIONS (Advanced beginners, intermediates and up). The focus will be on Ochos (figure eight steps), using changes of directions, sacadas, boleos, barridas, straight and in turns. Sunday, October 17, 2004, 3-4:45pm : COMBINATION OF THE POSSIBILITIES FOR VALS: (Intermediates and up) Dancing the various possibilities of the vals. 5-6:45pm COMBINING FIGURES (Intermediates and up) Choreographic bridges to combine figures including sacadas and boleos, with variations according to the music. WORKSHOP DETAILS All workshops will be held at Mariposa, 346 N. Justine, Suite 300, Chicago, Illinois. Prices: $25 per workshop, four or more $20 per workshop. Early bid discount: 10% discount for registration and payment received by September 30, 2004. PRIVATES Private classes are $80/hr for individuals and $110/hr for couples.
