Esmeralda¹s Tango and Tapas ---friendly, relaxing--a tangueros' place to hang--dance with wonderful dancers, eat, schmooze, drink!!
It's ESMERALDA'S TANGO AND TAPAS at SESSION 73, every single Sunday eve, at 73rd and 1st Ave. from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. We are developing a real "hang-out² now on the upper-east side!!! Who knew it would fill such a need there--or anyplace--for that matter, but it has! Eat or not (but food reviews are raves), Drink or not. Dance---YES YES YES Lounge--YES YES YES. I always dreamed of such a place--no pretensions, no social pressures. I used to dream of a place in my neighborhood- (East Village) -a permanent tango hang-out. Well, this got to be an impossible dream with real estate going through the roof-- But we do have---da daaaa--ESMERALDA'S at Session 73!!! So I am happy. And a great crowd of over 100 seemed to be happy last Sunday night from the comments (actual count was 110--excellent news after only 5 weeks. I planned on about 50, tops). And not bad that totally new people are peering in the window and coming in for the classes. We hope to whip those newbies into shape and every single leader--old and new--into the line of dance!!! Join us for the whipping. Every single Sunday, rain or shine, hell or high water at this neat club/ tapas bar/restaurant, with its reasonable, delicious food, charming loungy-dining area, fine wood floor, couches, banquettes, and endlessly long attractive bar for eating, drinking or just viewing. Beginners lesson at 5:30 but spaces for others to dance in just as soon as you can grab a partner. Lucille
