/"There will never be a step, sequence, or trick in tango that will come close to matching the power of the embrace."/
Ney Melo is among the best of the new generation of Argentine Tango dancers. His "close-embrace" tango style mixes traditional and nuevo tango. He studied in Buenos Aires, and was influenced early on by Roberto Herrera (posture, walk, elegance), Chicho Frumboli (musicality), and Mingo Pugliese (structure of tango). Ney has become a highly requested teacher for his clear explanations and enthusiastic attitude. He currently teaches a full Argentine Tango program (beginner through advanced courses) at Stepping Out Studios in New York City. Ney also teaches at NYU, Hunter College, and was recently invited to teach at the upcoming Portland Valentango Festival in February 2005 and the Toronto International Tango Festival in May 2005. He is currently partnered with Mariana Fresno.
