Mariana Fresno, one of the most dynamic Tango performers of the new
generation, has established herself in the field of Argentine Tango
through performing in numerous Tango shows and motion pictures.
She graduated from the National School of Dance in Buenos Aires, where
she did Ballet, Folklore, Jazz and Modern Dance until she found Tango.
Mariana has studied under such prominent instructors as Juan Carlos
Copes, Mingo and Esther Pugliese, Graciela González, Gustavo Naveira,
José Garófalo, Natalia Games and Gabriel Angio, Facundo and Kelly, Julio
Balmaceda and renowned milongueros such as Tete and Silvia, Rodolfo and
Maria Cieri, 'El Pibe' Palermo, Carlitos Albornoz and others.
In 2004 she performed at the New York City Summer Tango Festival
partnering with Ney Melo, and at the Tango Society of Boston with Héctor
Falcón and Shahrukh Merchant. She's also been performing with Walter
Pérez and appeared with Leonardo Suárez Paz as part of the Cuartetango show.
She starred in the “Buenos Aires Tango” show with the Walter Ríos
Orchestra, which ran in Tokyo, Japan, and toured Chile with Osvaldo
Zotto's group. Mariana was also part of Aníbal Pachano's "Tangou"
musical show. She partnered with El Indio in 1995, 1996 and since 2000
at the Plaza Dorrego's Tango performance in San Telmo, Buenos Aires.
Mariana taught at Nora's Tango Week (1999 & 2000), San Francisco, USA.
Mariana’s remarkable maturity and depth exhibited in well known films
such as “Evita” directed by Alan Parker, and “El Sueño de los Héroes”
(The Dreams of Heroes) by the Argentine director Sergio Renán.
She has taught tango workshops throughout the world: Argentina, United
States, Mexico, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, France and Denmark. She's
currently teaching in the Tri-State Area and at the DanceSport Studio in
Manhattan, New York.
