NANCY and DAVID MENDOZA will teach at the Lake Merritt Milonga on March 12, 8 to 9 pm, with a performance at 10:30-11:00 pm, $15 class and dance, $12 dance only (refreshments included), with DJ Emilio Flores. David and Nancy are a husband and wife team, who have been teaching, performing and choreographing authentic Argentine Tango and Salsa in the San Francisco Bay Area for nearly a decade. The Mendoza's are known for their musicality and smooth style. They teach the "Milonguero" or salon style of Argentine Tango, which stresses spontaneity, dancing to the music and lead-and-follow communication between partners, rather than staged choreography or memorized patterns. MARCELO VARELA & ANALIA VEGA will teach at the Lake Merritt Dance Center, on Sunday, March 20, 2005. This exciting couple are amongst the most popular teachers and performers in the Buenos Aires. They have performed and taught throughout the world. For two years, Marcelo was involved in a world tour with the hit Broadway Show "Forever Tango", and together, Marcelo & Analia appeared as tango dancers in the movie, "Evita", directed by Alan Parker. Marcelo and Analia have been the directors, choreographers and dancers in the successful dinner-dance Show at Caqo 14 in Buenos Aires. Marcelo and Analia are strong, vibrant teachers and dancers and will give you a wonderful understanding of the importance that the music has to the tango dance. Workshops - 2:00 to 3:30 pm, Combinations using giros and sacadas (for leaders and followers) 3:30 to 5:00 pm, Apply these combinations musically $25 per person pre-registered, or $30 at the door.
