Many of my friends from the States complain about the smoke and lack of ventilation in some of the packed Buenos Aires milongas. I am happy to report that on my last visit to BA I discovered a wonderful smoke-free, well ventilated milonga. This is the new "Bien Pulenta" milonga on Tte. Gral Peron 2543 organized by the very amiable and suave Miguel Romero. It is open from midnight to 5 a.m. every Saturday night. The building is gorgeous, a vintage location with high ceilings and superb wooden floor for dancing, newly refurbished from the original 1878 venue. It is also a theatre and is used for the Sabor a Tango dinner show prior to the milonga. Downstairs is the Vikinga milonga run by a lovely Scandinavian woman aka "La Vikinga." The Bien Pulenta milonga features traditional music. The night I went, Saturday night, always a problem if you are not in a couple, was about 50% couples, including some very interesting older milongueros. I went with some Bulgarian friends and we not only got a 50% discount on our admission but also won the sorteo for a chocolate Easter egg! We had plenty of dances even though we were there as singles. I have no financial interest in sharing this information with everyone, just hoping to share good lungs. Stella
