Dear Tango-L and Tango-A members, MIT is changing their list management software from Listserv to Mailman.
In the next few days, Tango-L and Tango-A will be moved to Mailman. From a practical standpoint, very little will change: - The e-mail address for sending subscription and unsubscription requests will change - The e-mail address for reaching the list administrator will change - The list addresses will change to [email protected] and [email protected] - List options and features are largely the same, including the support of topics (for Tango-A) - A web-based interface will be available for subscribing and unsubscribing (in addition to an e-mail interface). WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO DO? Really, very little. All subscribers will be automatically moved over to the new software with all their options (digest, nomail, topics, etc.) intact. - You will have to post to a new address - You will have to send subscription and unsubscription requests to a new address - If you have a spam filter that has been set to allow messages from [email protected], you will have to change that to a new address. WHAT DISRUPTION WILL THEIR BE IN LIST OPERATION? - There will be a period of a few hours at the time of the actual transition (perhaps as much as a day) when mail will not be distributed to the list. - Subscriptions and unsubscriptions may be locked for a slightly longer period (perhaps up to 2 days). More details with much more specifics will be available in the next couple of days. The transition is expected to be completed by April 27th. Regards, Shahrukh Merchant
