Yanina and Gennaro return to the Bay Area at the end of May. In their
absence, Rita Yanson, assisted by Zak Brown (Zak Brown is an instructor
at Tango by the River, Sacramento), will teach the Monday class at Lake
Merritt Dance Center, 200 Grand Avenue, Oakland, on May 1, 8, and 15.
RITA YANSON studied classical ballet in Russia for eight years at a
sister studio of the famous Vaganova Ballet School. The Vaganova Ballet
School has trained all the famous Russian ballet dancers. Rita has a
vast experience of performance in the Russian ballet productions.
She started her tango career at the Sacramento studio of Tango by the
River and continued to study tango in San Francisco and Buenos Aires.
The most important influence on her style of dancing and her teaching
methodology was Andrea Monti, who trained her in tango technique for an
extensive period of time.
At present, Rita Yanson teaches the Saturday program (levels 1-3) and
tango technique at Tango by the River with her partner Paul Wheeler.
Rita also assisted El Gato and Andrea at the Lake Merritt Dance Center
on April 3. She has a strong command of teaching tango to both the
follower and the leader.
Beginner class - 7:30 - 8:15 pm - $10
Intermediate class with practice - 8:30 - 9:30 pm - $15
