Steve, you should not do this.
Tapestry pouls page instances and reuses them.
When rendering a page, a page instance is retrieved from the poul, 
populated with the correct
persistent data, executed, and then given back to the poul.
Perhaps you can use your visit object to store information that you wany 
accessible from many
different pages at the same time.
Or, you can pass the needed info from the initial page when the second 
window opens.
