I would say, it depends on your skills and personal preferences, and
very much also on requirements. You could implement your task with both
frameworks.
Maybe these questions will help you answering yours:
* First: is this a professionel project? This doesn't imply that you
make money out of it, but rather that there is a plan and
deadlines/milestones to be reached...
Then next questions would be
* are you proficient with one of Tapestry/Cocoon? If yes, go for
that one...
* dont know any of them, but another webframework (struts comes to
mind)? Go with that one.
* new to webframeworks, need to deliver? I would rather suggest a
simpler one (might be Struts, or Spring Webframework, perhaps even ASP.NET)
* If it is not professionel in above definition:
* Want to reach something within a short timerange?--> answer above
questions...
* Got time to experiment? Try both for a simple use case, get a
feeling for it. Decide at one point, but have implemented at least
something in bot
* Want to have a grasp of the hype? Go for Tapestry. It is component
based and therefore is nearer to things like JSF.
