What you could do instead is have the setting in your ~/.tarsnaprc file, where 
you can add comments if the line starts with '#'.

For example:

exclude /Users/me/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope Index
exclude /Users/me/Library/Caches
# Can be rebuilt, see

exclude /Users/me/Library/Preferences/SDMHelpData
exclude /Users/me/.Trash
