As the obsessive scalemonger here, I do this occasionally, and it's good for
getting the idea of where scales and chords are and the different positions,
and of course the finger movements, but I must admit that the idea of
knowing where the flattened second is does not help me at all... I think it
would be useful if you have got to the level where you would like to play
the same thing at different places on the neck and had a much higher
consciousness of what note you are playing than I do...

Not helpful I know...
