I've got a three finger grip; I think it's been refererred to as the scalpel technique in guitar circles; maybe hatchet woudl be more appropriate :)
Here's what it looks like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnXVGxYUSWQ&feature=channel_page I do shift the grip around when I play sometimes....lately I've been drifitng into more of the conventional grip when chopping chords...also I tend to change up the three finger grip a bit, sometimes when doing a long slow tremolo thing. Sometimes I'll try moving to the traditional mandolin grip but after almost 30 years of picking the other way it's doesn't feel too natural :) But on less intricate stuff like chopping I can pull it off sometimes. I will say that the tradional grip like Comptons is much louder and darker in tone then my three finger method.
