well after all this discussion, I'm wondering if I should try out the
microphone setup again! ;-) Actually I think I am starting to get my head
around all these issues, and a microphone is not really practical for the
tiny, can't move an inch, places we usually play. Thanks for all the help.

As regards Tater's problem, I don't know if it would be worth talking to the
sound people and arguing the case for microphone setups .- presumably all of
the band have a similar opinion, and as Mike says, many years of experience
doing it.
