I can say that I am polite and professional to everyone who comes to me for
support at my job. I have to be- or I will be working somewhere else. That's
my point really- we don't always like dealing with the people we have to
deal with, but I don't think there is any excuse for being rude to them.

I think you're right- I'm sure there's something I could learn from Roland
and others like him who have achieved that level of proficiency. I do learn
from them, but now it's mostly just from listening and emulating.
