Linda,

I'm not really an expert on Old Time tunes, but I live in NC and there is a lot
of Old Time music here.  I found this site on-line which has several old 78
recordings, many of which are still being played by local musicians here.

You might try searching Youtube or MySpace for the Galax Fiddlers Convention
and the Mount Airy Fiddlers convention.  There's a lot of Old Time Music on
there also.

The Mount Airy, NC radio station plays Old Time music.  They have a website and
you can listen on-line.

WPAQ740.com

Hope that helps.

I like to take up tunes from places my ancestors lived, as part of my
music making.
It was 1800 when my folks on one side lived in Person Co. North
Carolina.  Just before that Orange Co. NC.  Then Southern VA. before
that.

I am looking in particular for 'old' old-time tunes from the area of
Person Co. and Orange Co. North Carolina region.

I figure one of the tater tots might have an idear or two about that.
So, specific tunes, books of tunes, anything would be much
appreciated.

Anything from Southern VA would be a bonus.

I am asking ..just in case ..on the odd chance someone might have some
clues or a direction to take me further.

They went to KY next and I have a tune book of
 regional KY tunes.
