Using another interest to research tunes is a great way to get into new, interesting territory.
I found this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afm9toQ_RbI Cornstalk Hornpipe, by Vi Wickham. Its a new composition can be downloaded from his website, clicking on compositions... It is a nice little tune. A visit to his video pages introduced me to The Rooster Song, and a right good little band, having fun with it. It seemed like an old-time tune and and old time band but they were using things typical of bluegrass...to my uninformed understanding. The main thing was how much fun they were having. Vi Wickham lives in Evansville In, very near where my family went after ky. I grew up where a lot of corn was growed and as a kid loved to play in the cornfields. It all fits rather nicely together.
