The waiting may well be the best part. I have had a love/hate relationship with the little beast for 10 years and it gets no better or worse with time. My pot is 10 and 3/8 inches ??? go figure, metric? English? I've wrestled with the cowhide head for years, hate/love it too. I've considered making it a drum several times in our relationship, have been offered more than it's worth, almost lost it once, but it's still hanging on the wall and comes down every time I get the urge, luckily i'm getting older and that doesn't happen as often anymore. I use J-75s on it, louder and more annoying than any other. Good luck to you on this quest, I'm sure you will enjoy it and then you won't and then you will.
