The Australian media have been giving us many many sound bites regarding Waltzing Matilda the song.
Seems there was a vote years ago and Waltzing Matilda nearly became our national anthem. Just now there is a significant move to replace the one narrowly chosen by vote with ....Waltzing Matilda. One man in Australia has used this idea as his only platform in his bid to be elected. We are hearing it often, played many ways, with all number of esoteric and interesting factoids about the song, the man who wrote it, what it means, what can be done with it...and ...its all kinda fun and nostalgic and even romantic.
