Lot's of gigs (and driving) plenty of work thankfully, and kids. Still trying to shake my re-infatuation with the guitar. Been messing with dropped D tuning learning Tony Rice's version of Shenandoah and Danny Boy as well as a Celtic sounding Whiskey Before Breakfast and a jig or two. These things have kept me entertained for weeks. Dropped D is cool because you get a little bit of that mandolin fifth drone vibe on the bottom without totally messing with rest of the famously unfriendly yet familiar guitar tuning.
On mandolin I worked up a version of Tennessee Waltz. Need to record it so I don't forget it. My band also just finished our latest album; you can hear some samples on ITunes. Not sure which parts of the tunes they sampled. I did play lots of mandolin on there and some guitar. Still trying to figure out what label would fit us. I guess the watery "Americana" works :) http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/whiskeytalk/id386629202 Enjoy the last days of summer!
