(sent earlier, but we seem to have a lot of lag on the mailing list today, I'm trying again without the cc to our internal list)
Hi all, Following feedback from our recent developers' workshop I've done a release of beta1 of the platform - this incorporates some minor but extensive API changes, most notably the introduction of a process identifier class in place of the strings we were using and tweaks elsewhere to fix bugs and simplify client code. The platform artifacts have been deployed to http://www.cyclonic.org/t2platform/repository/ along with the archetypes to create new platform-based projects. The documentation has also been updated - you can find the developer manual for the platform at http://www.cyclonic.org/t2platform/t2platform-guide-p0.1b1.pdf and the exercise notes from the workshop at http://www.cyclonic.org/t2platform/t2platform-exercises-p0.1b1.pdf (there are Word2007 versions of both of these at http://www.cyclonic.org/t2platform/ if you need that for some reason). The plug-in description editor tool has been updated to reflect the change in system artifacts (removal of provenance API and update to p0.1b1 of the others), and can be downloaded at http://www.cyclonic.org/t2platform/plugin-description-tool-p0.1b1.zip API docs for the platform + core Taverna APIs are at http://www.cyclonic.org/t2platform/t2api-p0.1b1.zip for download or http://www.cyclonic.org/t2platform/t2api-p0.1b1/ to browse directly, and those for the core extensions (useful as examples of how to write plug-ins) at http://www.cyclonic.org/t2platform/t2extensions-p0.1b1.zip and http://www.cyclonic.org/t2platform/t2extensions-p0.1b1/ I'm updating the virtual machine we used at the workshop and will be sending it to Manchester shortly (unfortunately I don't have the bandwidth to publish it directly from here so it's snail mail + DVD!). In the meantime you can get the source code for the exercises at http://www.cyclonic.org/t2platform/workshop-exercises-p0.1b1.zip - bear in mind that these are set up to use the environment within the virtual machine, in particular that they expect a maven repository at /opt/repo/ with all the dependencies for the projects (they should work without it, but working with them will be a lot slower as each project will download the same code to its own private scratch area). And with that I'm signing off - my involvement with myGrid (a project I've been working with since it was funded back in 2001) finished with the end of this contract so while I'll still lurk on these lists I'm no longer 'official'. That's not to say I'm going to stop working with Taverna, but you'll have to wait until later this year to find out what I'm up to :) Enjoy your coding!
