Taverna-wise fixed it as
http://www.mygrid.org.uk/dev/issues/browse/T2-1084 - don't show
warnings if a default service provider fails.

2.1 build progressing, we'll make the installers today.

2009/12/16 soiland-reyes <[email protected]>:
> I've notified NCBI about the eutils web service being down. (See below)
>
>
> We'll decide later today if this would make it by default into the 2.1
> release - as of now the preliminary build gives an error message on start-up
> because of this service being down..
>
> (Perhaps we simply should not show such errors on startup)

> Subject: Entrez SOAP interfaces down..? 503 error.

> Hi!
>
> I'm one of the developers of the Taverna workbench, and for years
> we've been happy to include some of your web services installed by
> default in Taverna.
>
>
> We've been using
> http://eutils.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/eutils/soap/eutils.wsdl - but
> today (as I'm preparing a new Taverna release) this URL seem to give
> 503 Server error.
>
> I've tried http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/eutils/soap/v2.0/eutils.wsdl
> which gives the same error.
>
> Occasionally I do get the WSDL definition, but if I then try to follow
> any of the imports I get the same hang before getting a 503 error,
> like on
> http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/eutils/soap/v2.0/efetch_summary.wsdl
>
> Some other WSDLs from you load fine, for instance
> http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/eutils/soap/v2.0/efetch_pubmed.wsdl
