The next release of Taverna Server (under development and test) will include notification of workflow finish by email or twitter (provided it is correctly deployed; that's not trivial, alas). It would be possible to provide other notification mechanisms too – there's a general pluggable architecture – but there's a need for working out what to put effort into implementing out of the huge space of possible things. :-)
