Not quite true Thomas, as you will need your Private Key to decrypt the
message... the Sender needs your Public Key to encrypt the message to you.
You encrypt a message _to_ someone's Public Key, or Certificate in S/MIME
language... and they in turn will need their Private Key to decrypt it.
You use your Private Key to sign a message, and the recipient will in turn
need your Public Key to verify that signature. The very same stands true
for PGP. Anytime you use your Private Key, you will be asked to enter your
Passphrase/Password, and as I've stated, the times you use your Private
Key is during signing and decrypting, and other's Public Keys for
encrypting and verification.
