Yes, I have done this. It is not the problem I am having.

If a number of messages arrive in your inbox, since sync is not working the 
messages are not downloaded and the filtering does not work. Even if you try to 
refilter the folder it only refilters the messages that have been downloaded.  
Note these filters are done on the headers so they should not need to be 
downloaded.

Continue processing does not work .
